The Popular Art Fair of Santa Fe, New Mexico, the United States, was attended by about 150 artists from 50 countries including Spain, France, Ukraine, Japan, China, Mexico, Peru, Ecuador, Bolivia, Panama, in addition to Cuba.
By Cuba was the Bayate group, which brings together several Cuban Naif painters. He presented at the stand 2 120 works of 20 painters from the provinces of Cienfuegos, Holguín, Granma, Guantanamo and Santiago de Cuba. This is the eleven participation of Bayate in the event.
The group was founded in 1994 by Luis Joaquín “El Panadero” Rodríguez and his son, Luis “The Student”, to organize local painters, promote their work and enrich the community through art.

In addition to its individual efforts, the Bayate group has established several community programs where they share their skills and passions with others. The “Miranda Project” focuses on working with young painters from the community of Mella, the “Francisca Project”, aimed at women artists and “joy of living” to children.
The objective of all these groups is to promote the pride and appreciation of community traditions, expressed through public paintings and murals.
“Popular art is taken from nature and daily life where all the power is,” said the leader of the Bayate group, Luis Rodríguez.
