Santa Clara, Cuba. – Yanaris Charlette Rodríguez, a Santaclareña mother, requests help to treat her 10 -year -old daughter in a hospital in Miami which has already accepted the case of the child with the promise to perform advanced surgery.
At three years, little Brianna Charlette Blanco Rodríguez began to suffer an injury at the base of the tongue and, although she was treated by punctions three times, according to Yanaris in A Facebook postthere was no improvement. After several studies, in the year 2023 the child was diagnosed with a thug cyst with a fistulous path in the tongue, a rare congenital malformation that causes multiple complications to feed and breathe.
“The drowning are daily,” explains this desperate mother. “It has compression of the airways and it has been a long time. I have the hospital acceptance in Miami to operate it, but I do not have the budget,” he laments. “I desperately ask to process a humanitarian visa and my baby can be operated, since it is the only cure and salvation for my little one.”
After years of waiting, Rodríguez explains that the growth of the tumor has been accelerated and that the girl is below the weight corresponding to her age due to the scarcity of adequate food and the difficulties in feeding generated by her illness. “Everything vomits, presents changes in the voice due to the compression of the vocal cords and this can cause death by suffocation,” says the mother in a Post December 2024 on Facebook.
The total cost of treatment, including passages and other migratory procedures, amounts to $ 32,000, so the activist Saily González Velázquezfriend of the child of the child, who resides in the Sakenaf cast of Santa Clara, has opened a collection campaign on the Gofundme platform, with the name “A life without pain for the girl Brianna”.
In his Facebook profile, González Velázquez appealed to the international community To reach the figure as soon as possible: “The girl has been operated three times in Cuba, but the injury always returns, and doctors have told her mother that with the resources they have they cannot do anything else,” reads the publication.
So far, and thanks to the solidarity of many people, just over 1,500 dollars have gathered: “We are not going to stop until Brianna has the opportunity to heal, to breathe without difficulty, to live like any girl of her age,” said the young activist.
