Cuban Jorge Grau won a bronze medal and a ticket in the 10-meter air pistol category for the next Panamerican Games during the first day of the continental contest of sport’s shot, based in Lima, Peruaccording to official media on the island.
Grau led the qualifying stage this Sunday with 580 points, thanks to series of shots of 99, 95, 97, 96, 97 and 96 units. Thanks to the performance advanced to the call ranking match that brought together the eight best, including fellow Cuban Yohe Tamayo (572 units), according to a note published in the sports portal Hit.

The other Cuban in the competition, Guillermo Pías, closed in 16th place with a discreet accumulated score of 566 points (92, 93, 96, 96, 94 and 95), adds the report.
In the ranking match the first eliminated was Tamayo with 140.9 points, but Grau advanced until he was at the gates of the gold dispute, and his third place in that instance earned him the bronze medal with 247.1 points.
The American Nickolaus Mowrer (248.7) and the Brazilian Philipe Chateaubrian (248.2) advanced to the title dispute, in that order. Finally, the South American climbed to the top of the podium by winning with a score of 17-11 in the defining series of a test that awarded the first 15 with the ticket to the continental multi-sport event.
