The President Miguel Díaz-Canel He affirmed during his official visit to Vietnam that Havana is willing to generate “an increasingly attractive environment for Vietnamese businessmen” through “facilities and incentives” approved by the Cuban government.
Díaz-Canel stressed that the Asian country has established itself as “the first investment partner of Cuba in the region,” said the agency EFE.
In a speech published in official media, the president referred to the close political ties and the impulse of joint projects in strategic sectors such as biotechnology, renewable energies, agri -food production and essential assets.
“We reiterate thanks to sister Vietnam for her invaluable support for the food security of our country,” said Díaz-Canel, referring to the deep supply crisis that the island crosses.

Cuban government seeks to “evaluate all proposals”

These agreements are added to another signed in 2023, which allowed a Vietnam firm to exploit 1,000 hectares of rice in Cuba, achieving in its first harvest the equivalent of 3.3 % of national production. So far, they are the only cases in which Havana has given state land to foreign companies.
With More than 50 bilateral agreements in progress, Vietnam has become the second business partner of Cuba globally and in its main capital investor in Asia.
