At the Geneva-based forum, the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Minrex), Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, promised to will prevent a humanitarian crisis in Cuba, a product of what he called “energy fence” imposed by Donald Trump’s administration, the agency reports Efe.

“Can a great power be allowed to try to destroy a small nation, cause a humanitarian tragedy, destroy its national culture (…) All this under the crude pretext of national security?” he asked. he diplomatic during his intervention.
Since last January, and through the signing an executive order, the US president opened the possibility of punishing duty to the countries that maintained the oil supply to the island.
Rodríguez Parrilla acknowledged that with this measure will cause “deprivation and suffering” to the population, although it was shownor confident that the leadership of the country will find “creative solutions” to mitigate that suffering.
In the same speech, the head of Cuban diplomacy reiterated the provision to start a dialogue between the two nations, but emphasized that it would have to be based on “international law, mutual respect, reciprocal benefit, without preconditions or interference in internal affairs.”
