The Cuban Foreign Ministry warned this Thursday that “what it described as “pretexts” from the United States “cannot be accepted legally or morally” to justify a possible military aggression against Venezuelaand called for “international mobilization” to avoid an escalation in the region.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Minrex) warned in a statement that “the dangers to the peace, security and stability” of Latin America are “real and imminent”, following the recent US military movements in the Caribbean Sea.
Washington announced at the end of August that it would use “all its power” to stop the flow of drugs into its territory, which included the deployment of warships and troops in international waters near Venezuela.
Since then, the United States has confirmed the sinking of at least five vessels that, according to the Pentagon, were transporting drugs, a dispatch from the agency reported. EFE.
The Cuban Foreign Ministry described these actions as “illegal” and assured that “after the destruction of these boats, the threat of the use of force against Venezuela increases with the announcements of a new phase of escalation that would include military actions against land targets.”

The Minrex also accused the US Secretary of State, Marco Rubioand “anti-Cuban Florida” congressmen to promote a war in the region.
The Foreign Ministry stated that these Cuban-American politicians “irresponsibly threaten to unleash US military power against a sovereign nation as if it were a neighborhood police raid.”
Furthermore, he insisted that the alleged plan to attack the US Embassy in Caracas with explosives – thwarted by the Venezuelan authorities – would have been organized by “a far-right sector” that sought to generate a pretext to justify a military response from Washington.
Havana asked the international community to “mobilize to stop a war action against Venezuela,” warning that behind the US maneuvers there is an interest in “seizing the oil and natural resources of the South American country.”

Washington maintains eight military ships with missiles and a nuclear-powered submarine deployed in the Caribbean, in addition to sending ten F-35 combat aircraft to a base in Puerto Rico.
The Donald Trump Administration accuses Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro of leading the so-called Cartel of the Suns, linked to drug trafficking, and has raised the reward for information leading to his capture to $50 million.
Venezuela appreciates call from Cuba
Given the statement from the Cuban Foreign Ministry, the Government of Nicolás Maduro thanked the island for its call and described the deployment in the Caribbean as a “military siege.”
In a message released by Telegram and cited by EFEVenezuelan Foreign Minister Yván Gil warned that the movement of US forces “continues to intensify and represents a serious risk for the entire region.”
Likewise, he stated that “Venezuela reaffirms its commitment to peace and the defense of its sovereignty, and firmly denounces the irresponsibility of those who promote war from the US Government.”
Caracas has responded with defensive maneuvers and extraordinary measures, while insisting on classifying as falsehoods the accusations of the Executive’s links with drug trafficking that justify operations in the area.
The Venezuelan Executive has also indicated that any military action against its territory would cause serious consequences for regional peace.
