The occupied West Bank suffered on Thursday an operation by army troops, intelligence agents and Israel police in the Jenin refugee camp, the focus of the Palestinian armed resistance in that territory.
The operation, according to international media, was organized to arrest an Islamic Jihad squad, which led to clashes and violent actions against Palestinian protesters.
According to the Israeli Army, quoted by the agency EFEhis “counter-terrorism” raid was necessary to stop an alleged imminent attack by Islamic Jihad.
Meanwhile, the Palestinian National Authority (PNA), which partially governs the occupied West Bank, described the raid as a “massacre” and terminated security coordination with Israel.
The operation in Jenin is “an extension of Israel’s deliberate pattern of conduct, it carries out international crimes to advance its annexationist policies and practices,” said the ANP Ministry of Foreign Affairs, quoted by the Spanish media.
After the funerals of the fatalities, including members of the Jihad, clashes between Palestinians and Israeli forces broke out again in various areas of the West Bank, which left one dead and at least seven injured.
Cuba, like a large part of the international community, has condemned previous Israeli incursions into Palestinian territory and the death of residents of the areas occupied by Tel Aviv forces.
In addition, Havana maintains good relations with the Palestinian authorities and has systematically supported the claim of that Arab people to be an independent country.
