This was reported in a government meeting on the confrontation with the incident, with the presence of the highest authorities of the Island and in which it was explained that “it is normal” that for several days smoke emanates from the affected area and that there is no possibility that the fire spreads, nor that new explosions occur in the place.

According to the specialists, “the flames of tank one were extinguished, in tank two the fire was finished in the morning and the offensive actions of tank three are being worked on,” according to a report of the Cuban News Agency (ACN).
At the meeting, the Cuban president, Miguel Díaz-Canel, recognized the work carried out by firefighters, carriers and other forces involved in fighting the fire, and called for “prioritizing attention to the injured and the families of the disappeared,” according to The Cuban Presidency reports on its social networks.

Díaz-Canel also pointed out that environmental control studies must be maintained in the coming days, both in Matanzas and in other nearby territories where there have already been reports of contaminated rains.
In this regard, the Cuban Minister of Science, Technology and Environment, Elba Rosa Pérez, pointed out that “andn the radar images reduce the visibility of the smoke” of the incident and that “andhe air monitoring confirms that environmental pollution has decreased“.
Similarly, he asserted that “there is no evidence of patients afflicted by the emanations of the fire.”

For his part, the head of Public Health, in addition to confirming the death of a second victima 24-year-old firefighter who was hospitalized, specified that so far 130 people had been treated due to fire injuries, of which 23 were still hospitalized, four of them in critical condition, two in serious condition and 17 in care.
