The movie Havana Essence, by Luis Ernesto Doñas, won the Lily Postproduction-Grading Award at the Biarritz Latin America Festival, which ended yesterday, Sunday, in that French city.
The award was conferred at the seventh edition of the BAL-LAB Co-Production Meetings, which included the participation of 17 projects directed and/or produced by professionals who presented their films in the official selection.
Havana Essence was selected to participate in the BAL-LAB thanks to the Solidarity Fund for Innovative Projects -FSPI- “Support for new cinemas and the Cuban film industry”, of the French Embassy in Cuba.
the colombian movie The Kings of the world, by Laura Mora, was the big winner of the Festival; the Jury Prize went to the Argentine comedy Red point, by Nicanor Loreti; that of the public for the Chilean film 1976. The award for best documentary, sponsored by RFI and France24, went to portraits of the future from Brazil.
The jury was made up of producers Nadia Turincev (Easy Riders Film), Jérôme Dopffer (Iwaso Films) and Damien Magherbi (distributor, Les Valseurs).
