Cuban exile asks Biden not to help the Castro regime

Asamblea de la Resistencia Cubana, Cuba

Havana Cuba. — The prestigious media outlet Politicalin Washington DC, has published a forceful message from the Cuban exile community that asks President Joe Biden not to send aid to those affected by Hurricane Ian through institutions that, in one way or another, respond to the regime in Havana.

The request has been released a day after the White House announced it would provide $2 million in emergency aid to Cuba after the passage of the atmospheric phenomenon, which devastated several communities in the west of the island.

The Assembly of the Cuban Resistance – a coalition of opposition and human rights groups inside and outside Cuba – has stated that all assistance directed to the Antillean people must be channeled through institutions independent of the dictatorship, such as the Catholic Church, the Evangelical Churches and the Masons. Likewise, he highlighted the long history of Castroism embezzling and stealing the product of the donations received, of which only a tiny part, or nothing, reaches people in need.

He also pointed out that Cuba is currently experiencing the worst migratory wave since January 1959, a reality that cannot be attributed to economic reasons, but to the will to maintain, at any price, political control over a society long deprived of rights and freedoms. .

The chancellor Bruno Rodriguez Grill he publicly thanked the aid authorized by the White House; but the Cubans who from within the island denounce the deep political, material and moral crisis even at the risk of being violently repressed, could interpret the kindness of the US government as support for the tyranny that oppresses them, thus exacerbating despair in a real change and convincing them too that the best option would be to emigrate.

The Cuban exiles recalled that Cuba is Russia’s main political ally in the Western Hemisphere, a pawn that, openly or covertly, has shown its support for the invasion of Ukraine. Therefore, any respite that is allowed to the dictatorship that Miguel Díaz-Canel heads today would be a support for the Kremlin.
