AREQUIPA, Peru – On September 25, a demonstration will be held in Madrid, in front of the Congress of Deputies, organized by the Cuban Homologation Movement in Spain, with the support of the Association of Cuban Doctors in Spain.
A report from the Spanish media The reason notes that the Movement plans to protest for four hours, from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
The organization explains that they will protest in response to what they consider to be discriminatory treatment suffered by Cuban and other nationality professionals, as well as Spanish graduates from Cuban universities, when it comes to having their degrees recognized so they can practice their professions.
Approximately five months ago the Movement held a demonstration Similar to the complaint regarding the delay in homologations in Spain, which range from an average of two to three years, although there are files that can take more than five.
However, according to the Old Royal Decree 967/2014 and the New Royal Decree 889/2022, this process should take six months.
The number of Cubans residing in Spain has reached a historic high of almost 200,000, according to the latest data published by the National Institute of Statistics (INE) of the Iberian country corresponding to January 1, 2023. Since then to date, that number must have increased.
Thus, 198,639 people born in Cuba were registered, of which 73,548 were residents.
The rest had obtained Spanish nationality and according to the INE, women lead the list with 107,987, surpassing men who total 90,652.
The graphs show the exponential growth of Cuban emigration to Spain, which coincides with the exodus on the island, which has been experiencing the worst migration crisis in its history since 2021.
