Madrid Spain.- The number of Cuban doctors destined to fulfill a mission in Mexico will increase to 641, which represents an increase of 28% with respect to the initial figure (500), according to the director of the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS), who reported in a morning conference. Zoe Robledo.

“…Faced with the structural problem of the lack of specialist doctors, we have sought to join forces with the Cuban Ministry of Health, through the Cuban Medical Services Agency, so that we can begin to cover these shortages of specialist doctors. We are starting now in the state of Nayarit and in the state of Colima, after we signed the Collaboration Agreement to cover these gaps. Well, we are going to have a historic event, in total there will be 641 medical specialists who will strengthen the health of Mexican men and women,” said Robledo.

However, the island’s authorities have not commented on the matter, despite the fact that this was not the agreement that was made known, signed in early May during the visit of Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO), according to which would travel to the Aztec nation half a thousand Cuban doctors.

For his part, López Obrador during this day spoke out against those who oppose and denounce the hiring of Cuban specialists, considering the agreement as labor exploitation.

“I want to intervene, it seems infamous to me to be questioning the fact that specialist doctors from Cuba come to help us because public education was abandoned for a long time and not enough doctors or specialists were trained in Mexico,” AMLO said, quoted by the agency. Reform.

“I want to draw attention to this hypocritical, inhuman, conservative attitude, of conceiving health as a privilege and not as a right. Health is a human right, it has nothing to do with politics, with borders and whether they like it or not, we will continue to have the support of medical specialists that we do not have in the country. It seems that they don’t want to listen, or they don’t want to see because conservatives are very dogmatic, very fanatical,” added the Mexican president.

At the end of last July, the first 60 Cuban doctors of the initial group hired by López Obrador arrived in the state of Nayarit.

At the beginning of the current month the daily The financial revealed that the Cuban regime would be charging 1,177,300 euros per month, the equivalent of 1,195,936 dollars, for the doctors sent to Mexico.

The report also revealed that to ensure that Cuban doctors arrived in the State of Nayarit, Mexico had to pay an advance of 50% of the first monthly payment, “to guarantee Cuban health personnel the minimum conditions for their stay.”

In February 2022, the portal Latinus denounced the link between the National Council of Science and Technology of Mexico (Conacyt) and the Cuban regime to the detriment of the development of knowledge and research in the Aztec country.

Latinus explained that in 2021 the government of Andrés Manuel López Obrador —through Conacyt— had paid 34 million pesos (1.66 million dollars in exchange) to Comercializadora de Servicios Médicos Cubanos SA, a public limited company created in 2011 accused international trafficking in persons and forced labor
