This Saturday, April 19 Abelardo Moreno Fernández, Cuban diplomat diedrecognized for his career in Cuba’s foreign policy. He was 81 years old.
The Vice Minister of Foreign Relations, Josefina Vidal, announced the news through a Facebook post in which he cataloged him as “master of generations of diplomats.”
According to the website of the National Institute of International Relations (ISRI), Moreno Fernández was born in 1944 and It was for almost twenty years Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs (Minrex).
In addition, fWhat a key negotiator in hundreds of international meetings and directed diplomatic processes of great relevance to the island. As it transcends today, for his outstanding work he was called “the best negotiator in Latin America and the Caribbean.”
He served as Cuban ambassador to the United Nations Organization (UN) and as director of the Multilateral Affairs Directorate of the Cuban Foreign Ministry.
His career was marked by a Active participation in the movement of non -aligned countries for more than forty years and in the community of Latin American and Caribbean states Since its creation.
Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez also regretted the death of the diplomat through his profile in X.

In his last years, he served as an advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
Moreno is Author of the book International negotiation: art and science of the negotiating process (2021), where he shared his vast experience in diplomacy and negotiation.
