Cdmx, Mexico- The Cuban opposition leader José Díaz Silva, detained for political reasons since March, was forced to leave the country in the last hours.
State Security had warned the leader of the Movimiento Opositores por una Nueva República (MONR) that he would only be released from prison if he agreed to go into exile.

The exile leader, Ramón Saúl Sánchez made a direct statement through his Facebookin which he specified that Díaz Silva “has just been taken out of prison and transferred to the Havana International Airport to be taken into exile.”
The opponent was transferred directly from the Combinado del Este to the entrance of the airline.

“They were harassing me and putting pressure on me, and I said to myself: am I going to spend my old age in prison, where I can’t do anything? There, the only thing we can do is protest or go on a hunger strike, risking our lives”, declared Díaz Silva upon his arrival in the United States.
Before leaving, the Cuban authorities made it clear to him that he could not return.
“It makes me tremendously sad, I have no joy, although I am satisfied because here I am with my family, with my brothers in struggle. I am not happy because we left the prisons full of political prisoners, ”he said.
