The American club Twenty24 renewed the contract of Cuban cyclist Marlies Mejías for the 2023 season after her outstanding results in international races last season.
Through the team’s Facebook profile, the board ratified the Artemisa as co-captain of the formation, according to a report of the Cuban News Agency (ACN).
The American club, which in the three most recent seasons has had in its ranks riders participating in Olympic Gameswill continue to be led by the local Jennifer Valente, an expert in the track modality and champion of the Omnium specialty at the Tokyo 2020 event, in which she also integrated the bronze medalist portfolio in the team pursuit event.
Marlies now appears as one of the three foreigners on the list, along with the Canadian Caileigh Filmer and the Mexican Sofía Arreola, silver medalist in the test of scratch in the 2013 World Track Championships, and a multi-laureate in the Pan American Games and regional competitions.

After staying away from cycling due to her maternity in 2019, Marlies resumed her career and as a member of the Twenty 24 won several events last year criteria (relatively short races on urban routes held in the United States).
During the most recent Pan American Road Championship, held in Argentina, the rider won a place for Cuba in the time trial corresponding to the Central American and Caribbean Games in San Salvador 2023.
