MIAMI, United States. — The Cuban Conflict Observatory (OCC) registered 234 protest demonstrations, mostly individual, throughout the month of November.

The monthly report of the organization indicates that of the total protests, 153 were produced in demand of political and civil rights.

The repression against those who protested after the passage of the hurricane ianagainst illegal occupants of homes and against operators of the informal economy were among the triggers for the demonstrations that occurred during the eleventh month of the year.

In November there were also graffiti on walls, as well as individual or collective complaints against the system in the form of texts, photos and videos published on social networks.

In the case of protests related to economic and social rights, 81 were reported. These were motivated by critical problems such as the collapse of the health system, inflation, shortages, lack of housing, and the absence of a gender law that protects women from violence.

It is also worth noting the resistance offered by hundreds of private merchants in Santiago de Cuba and other places in the country against new attempts by the Cuban regime to cap the prices of their merchandise.

The November count did not take into account dozens of protests related to permanent campaigns such as “A better Cuba is possible,” “Without a field there is no country” and “Don’t shut up: silence hides violence,” carried out in public places by activists. of 13 provinces and also the special municipality Isla de la Juventud.

The provinces where the most demonstrations of disagreement were registered were Havana (107), Santiago de Cuba (62) and Holguín (45).

The Cuban Conflict Observatory is an autonomous project of Cuban civil society supported by the Foundation for Human Rights in Cuba. Its mission is to expose, educate and empower citizens willing to take initiatives to promote the solution of the problems that afflict Cuban society.
