MIAMI, United States. — The Cuban Conflict Observatory (OCC) launched a announcement Cubans residing on the island to participate in the “What do you know about GAESA?” contest, which will be open until October 10, 2022.
“Why is GAESA not accountable to the Comptroller General of the Republic of Cuba?” or “Why is so much invested in hotels if since 2018 half of the rooms have remained empty?” These are some of the questions that the contestants will be able to answer.
The Business Administration Group (GAESA) is an umbrella company controlled by some Cuban Army generals that operates in the tourism, financial investment, import, export, and remittance sectors of the Cuban economy.
Experts have calculated that GAESA represents 60% of the national economy and more than 40% of the hotel rooms in Cuba, without the obligation to account for its income to the Cuban people and without them knowing where that money is going. .
The OCC recalls that in 2021 alone, the Island regime invested 157 times less in health than in the construction of hotels and real estate services, and the money allocated to education was 366 times less. That same year, 19 times more was invested in the construction of hotels than in agriculture.
Those interested in participating in the contest What do you know about GAESA? They must answer one of the following questions:
- Do you have any explanation for why so much is invested in hotels if since 2018 half of the rooms have remained empty?
- Why was the money destined for the hotels not invested in maintenance of thermoelectric plants, in food production, construction of houses, in health and medicine or in the base lightning rod system of Supertanqueros de Matanzas?
- Why is GAESA not accountable to the Comptroller General of the Republic of Cuba?
- How do you think these problems with GAESA will be resolved?
Answers must be sent by email [email protected] or by WhatsApp to the number +1 305 926 0852.
“The contest is open to Cubans residing on the island. It is not necessary that you send your name, you can use a pseudonym, although you must say in which province you live, gender and age, and the best way to communicate with you if you are one of the winners, “said the OCC.

A first prize of $300 US dollars will be awarded to the winner, a second prize of $250 and 3 third prizes of $100 dollars. In addition to 5 mentions of telephone recharge.
