The Cuban company of Computer Applications desoft and the Spanish trading company People Walking signed an International Economic Association (AEI) contract, according to official sources.
The agreement was signed “for the development, marketing and export of computer applications and provision of services associated with information and communication technologies (ICT)”, refers the state newspaper Granma.
This contract is considered the first of its kind on the Island related to ICT and “will be inserted in a market provided by the foreign partner, which allows the realization of international projects,” adds the publication, according to which it “establishes the creation of an International Center for Information Technology Services, which will be nourished by Desoft’s software development capacity and the contracting of services to other entities in the country”.

Carmen Fernández del Busto, business director of the Informatics and Communications Business Group (GEIC), told Granma that this AEI, which was signed virtually, “demonstrates the need to adopt export management models for services and computer applications”, which allow insertion in international markets “where access is still difficult”.
In addition, he pointed out that the agreement has “added value” for being “the first ICT services project with foreign investment, in line with the 2030 Social Economic Development Plan and as a sign that all the conditions for growth are in place in the country. ”, cites the official publication.
Cuba, which has been gradually opening up to connectivity and the digital universe, has several university centers for the training of computer science professionals and related areas, as well as a growing development in this sector, not only promoted by state entities but also by MSMEs and private enterprises.
