The Cuban Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bruno Rodríguez, begins on Wednesday an official visit to Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam and Laos, Southeast Asian countries considered good allies of the island.
“During his stay, the Cuban Foreign Minister will hold official conversations with senior officials in those countries, as part of the program of activities,” according to a brief note from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Minrex).

Rodríguez’s official visit will culminate on the 21st, according to the Foreign Ministry.
In recent telephone conversations, of which they have echoed Vietnamese mediathe secretary general of the Communist Party of that country, to Lam, and Miguel Díaz-Canel agreed to promote “cooperation to improve political trust, materialize the agreements achieved and hold broad activities in the year of Vietnam-Cuba Friendship 2025”.
Cuban media also gave an account at the beginning of this year that the Cuban Government for the first time gave land to a foreign company, in this case Vietnamese (without specifying), for the exploitation of rice south of Pinar del Río.
The countries to which Rodríguez travels are part of the Southeast Asian Nations Association (ASEAN) with which Havana maintains close political relations.

Cuba joined the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation of Southeast Asia five years ago, a mechanism of said regional bloc.
The ASEAN, founded on August 8, 1967, is also made up of Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Myanmar, Philippines and Thailand.
