The Cuban Bryan Peña will be one of the members of the management body of the team that will represent Colombia in the next edition of the World Baseball Classic (WBC, for its acronym in English), which will be held in several venues during the month of March.
According to the information published by the specialized site Swing Completo, the former Major League catcher would assume the duties of coach on the staff led by José Mosquera.

In addition to his time at MLB Wearing the jersey of five franchises, Peña has good experience directing minor league teams in the United States professional circuit, with which he has achieved very good results.
Among his most notable successes at this level is the title won in 2018 at the head of the Detroit Tigers franchise in the category Rookieas part of the Gulf Coast League.
The publication adds that a year later the Havana native was promoted to work in the Class A category, and since then he has not stopped rising as a leader in the Tigers’ organization chart.
Peña’s record also includes forays as a coach in different Caribbean leagues, especially in the Dominican Republic, where he worked this season with the Toros del Este, the media reports.

During the short resurgence of the Cuban Professional Baseball Federation (FEPCUBE), he assumed the responsibility of directing the team designated to represent it in different tournaments, something that did not come to fruition.
With his incorporation to the Colombian team, which will be among the protagonists of the tournament for the third time, Peña will have his first opportunity to participate in these events.
The coffee team is part of group A, which will have actions at the Hiram Bithorn stadium in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and in which the Cuban teams were also included.
