The women’s team basketball of Cuba won this Sunday the title in the Caribbean tournament that hosted the Ciudad Deportiva coliseum, in Havana, by winning the final against its similar Dominican Republic with a 79×60 marker.

The game had a fairly even start, with a first quarter favorable to the Cuban team by just two points (23×21), a difference that was increased to 15 at the end of the half of the game (57×42), according to review the Cuban News Agency (ACN).

After the break, both teams had a low score in a third period that ended 11 × 4 in favor of the locals, who reached the last quarter with an advantage of 22 points and the victory almost in the “pocket”, adds the note.

According to the media, the hostesses once again showed a collective game, with a well-distributed offense and a fairly effective defense, which allowed the Quisqueyanas few liberties.

For the champions of the contest, their captain Anisleidy Galindo became the main figure in the attack with 25 cards, including three triples, while others with double figures were Dairil Tornez and Isabela Jordain, chosen as the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the contest.

With this result, the Cuban team finished undefeated in five outings and left signs of having future players such as Jordain herself, Naomi Vargas, Betsi Claro and Melissa Despaigne, underlines the ACN.

In addition, the two finalist teams qualified for the Centrobasket in November, which in turn will grant seven places to the Central American and Caribbean Games of El Salvadorin 2023.

In the qualifying stage, the hosts debuted in this tournament of the Caribbean successfully 76×44 against the Bahamians; then they defeated the Jamaicans with a wide score of 85×32 and in their third game they beat the Dominicans 76×51.

Already in the semifinal matches, this Saturday, they won with a disproportionate score of 97×36, again against Jamaica, a team that lost 57×68 to the Bahamas in the discussion of third place.
