MIAMI, United States.- Cuban opponent Willian Tamayo Ramayo, an activist of the Eastern Democratic Alliance, denounced before the cameras of Palenque Vision the repression of which he has been a victim for being a human rights activist in Cuba.
“I am going through a very hard time in my life because on July 20 I lost my mother, and I lost her because in Cuba the hospitals are collapsed. My mother suffered from abdominal pain, shortness of breath that did not go away, so as in the country there is no oxygen, no gel for ultrasounds, nor can plates be made, because they did not give her the medical attention she needed, “he said. .
Less than a month after losing her mother, Tamayo Ramayo lost her father. On August 15, he passed away after 30 years bedridden. “A doctor never came to visit him, nor a social worker,” he lamented.
The day of his father’s death, the opponent assures that early in the morning he went to the doctor’s office to explain to the doctor the situation in which his father was, the conditions in which he lived. “What did the doctor do? She didn’t go to the house, she just called an ambulance at 8:00 in the morning, but the car showed up at 12:00 noon, and it was already too late. When we got to the hospital my father passed away.”
“Those are the pains that I carry, the pains that the dictatorship has created, because it hates us, human rights defenders. This is a cruel and genocidal dictatorship, led by Miguel Díaz-Canel and who directs him, Raúl Castro,” he denounced.
Willian Tamayo Ramayo, a resident of Banes, Holguín province, denounces that due to his political thinking he is also being denied medical care.
According to him, they provide other people with medical attention while he is told that there are no supplies to attend to him.
“There is no anesthesia, there is no water, there are no gloves, there are no syringes, but there are people who pay doctors from behind and then all those supplies appear. Today the doctors in Cuba are being corrupt,” he pointed out.
While medicines are scarce in the island’s pharmacies, in the informal market they can be found at high prices that he cannot afford to treat his ailments.
“Antibiotics on the black market cost 300 pesos that I can’t pay because I don’t work, but I don’t work because the dictatorship won’t let me because I am an opponent”, he lamented.
Prolonged blackouts, lack of food and medicine is the greatest concern of Cubans today, to whom the state does not give them any chance to change their reality.
