The other incident occurred on the Malecón in Havana, where a minor, of whom no details have been given, lost his life after being swept away by the force of the waves. A witness even jumped into the sea to rescue him, but the waves made it impossible for him to do so.
A second infant did survive when being rescued by the forces of the Cuban Fire Department. The news was reported through Facebook by the journalist Lázaro Manuel Alonso, although it soon spread to most of the official media on the Island.
