The third edition of the Biennial of Design of Havana (BDH), scheduled between May 23 and June 19, will also have activities in the provinces of Camagüey and Santiago de Cuba, according to official media.
The new version of the event, which aims to promote this event and its value for economic development, will have a total of 13 exhibition centers, and its main venue for exhibitions in the capital will be the Habana Espacios Creativos project.
In this institution, which belongs to the City Historian’s Office, the theoretical sessions of the Biennale will be held, in which the latest in design, trends and projections will be discussed, as reported Tribune of Havana.

The program also includes workshops taught by national and foreign experts with real proposals applicable to the current Cuban industry, economy and society. In addition to Cuba, the event will have participants from countries such as Mexico, Nicaragua, Ecuador, Colombia, Argentina, Spain, Italy and Sweden.
Artists from these nations will share the stage not only on-linebut also face-to-face, as is the case of the Spaniards Maria Luisa Gallén Jaime, president of Valencia, World Design Capital 2022, and Juan Mellen, president of the Spanish Design Institute (D!OS).
A mural made for this occasion, and divided into three parts, was made by Cubans Nelson Ponce, Mola and Raupa, which represents the city of Havana from its figurative and abstract perspective, it specifies the news dispatch.
According to the source, the call will allow the public to get closer to the discipline of design and its environment, since all the activities of the event will be open doors, depending on the capacity of each establishment and the epidemiological conditions of the Cuban capital.
Under a national context of continuous economic and structural changes, the event seeks to stimulate the involvement of new generations of designers, consolidate the relationship between design and art, disseminate the work of design professionals and students, but above all deepen the link with state and private sector companies, the publication underlines.
During its celebration, the event will fill various spaces in Havana with new visual airs, thanks to a renewed BDH, which “has grown and seeks its space of authenticity within world design, because it is not simply about the goal, but about the attitude,” the report highlights.
