Cuba: they present a call for the ExpoCaribe 2022 International Fair

The Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment (Mincex) of Cuba, Rodrigo Malmierca, presented this Thursday to Caribbean and African diplomats the call for the XVII International Fair ExpoCaribe 2022, scheduled for June 23 to 26 in Santiago de Cuba.

During a conference with ambassadors from those regions in Cuba, Malmierca commented that the event will bring together companies and other economic actors to promote foreign trade and foreign investment in the Caribbeanwith an emphasis on the biotechnological industry, points out an office from the agency Latin Press (PL).

The fairwhich will be based in the Heredia Cultural Complex, will be dedicated to the 50th anniversary of relations between the Caribbean Community (Caricom) and Cuba.

In addition, it will be a space to confirm the island’s gratitude to nations of that community and the African continent for sending donations to face the COVID-19 pandemic and for other aid and shows of solidarity, Malmierca said.

According to the news release, Panama, Uruguay and Portugal have already confirmed their presence at the event, while Martinique, Trinidad and Tobago, Mexico, Jamaica, the Dominican Republic and Ghana are in the contract process. The call will remain open until May 30.

Among the objectives of the event pointed out by Malmierca are closer economic and commercial relations with Caricom and the Greater Caribbean, fostering ties with African countries, promoting Cuban export products and seeking joint business, indicates the publication.

In addition, it refers PL that the Caribbean fair will allow access to information on commercial products from nations neighboring Cuba and promote exchanges with counterparts from sectors of the Cuban economy.

Based on this, the program includes a group of conferences on the general situation of the Cuban economy, the historical links with Caricom and the island’s exportable supply of goods and services, given by specialists from the Ministries of Economy and Planning, External relationships and Foreign Trade.

The information agency adds that there will also be panels on foreign investment in the eastern region, the new economic actors in the country, the production and export of medicines and vaccines, multi-destination tourism between countries of the Greater Caribbean, agriculture and foreign exchange. climate, among other issues.

For her part, the Director of Development of the Government of Santiago de Cuba, Madelaine Cortes, presented a brief characterization of that province, which has 29 projects within the portfolio of opportunities for foreign investment, focused on food production, tourism, transportation, the sugar industry and crafts, among others, indicates the report.

The official specified that, as is tradition, the event will open to the public on the last day.
