Cuba thanked this Friday for the delivery of a donation of USA of implements for firefighters, carried out by the embassy of that country in Havana.
The vice minister of External relationshipsCarlos Fernández de Cossio, recognized this gesture on his Twitter account, consisting of the delivery to the National Fire School of one hundred modules for the Cuban Fire Department, according to a report from the Prensa Latina (PL) agency.
We appreciate the delivery today by the US Embassy, at the National Fire School, of 100 modules donated by its government to the Cuban Fire Department, offered on the occasion of the fire that occurred at the Matanzas Supertanker Base, on August 2022.

This equipment was offered by the US government on the occasion of the fire that occurred in the Supertanker Base Matanzas, on August 5, 2022, recalled the official.
The event, which according to the official version was caused by an electric discharge on one of the fuel tanks of that facility, caused the most devastating fire in memory in Cuba.
Several nations provided important help to extinguish the fire, especially Mexico and Venezuela, which provided specialists in combating this type of fire and large resources.

In this context, the Biden administration, through the State Department, offered technical advice to deal with the incident, which was also appreciated by the island’s authorities.
After several days, the fire managed to be controlled, but it left a balance of 16 deaths, most of them firefighters, more than a hundred injured and millions in material losses.
