The Cuba U-15 baseball team that plays in the Pre-World Cup in Valencia, Venezuela, beat its Dominican counterpart 12-2, thus securing a place in the semifinal of the event and one of the four tickets in dispute for the World Championship, which will take place in Hermosillo, Mexico.
The Dominican Republic team opened the scoring at the end of the third inning pushed by a fly ball by Joselvis Juan who fell in no man’s land behind the crescent. Wilbert Cruz scored it on a sprint from second, after robbing the Cuban catcher of his seventh base in nine attempts so far in the event.
Luis Manuel Góngora’s boys connected their first hit in the fourth inning, but shortly after they managed to get starter Alexander Frías off the mound and take charge by scoring five runs.

An error to the field and a sacrifice fly by Maikol Rodríguez were combined with three hits, including one by Johan Rodríguez who drove in one, and another by Alejandro Prieto who brought in two runs.
Two dirty runs in the sixth and another package of five runs in the farewell inning were more than enough to demonstrate the superiority of the Cubanitos on the field.
After this result, the standings have Puerto Rico in the first position (3-0), followed by Panama (3-1) and Cuba (3-1), the three classified for the World Cup event.
Venezuela (1-2) is the favorite to get the last spot against the Dominican Republic and Colombia, who have not achieved victories so far.
