The Cuban squad maintained this Sunday its undefeated in the World Championship of Boxing from Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

The Cuban boxers added four successes, including that of the current world champion Yoenlis Hernández (75 kg), to raise their harvest in the contest to 18 victories without defeats.

Hernández debuted with an easy 5-0 success over the Jordanian Mohammad Almhart, thanks to a fast, precise and varied shot, according to review the digital site Hit.

In his next fight, the man from Camagüey will face the Mongolian Jargal Otgonjargal next Tuesday.

For his part, Erislán Romero (51 kg) achieved a 4-1 victory over the Bahraini Azat Makhmtov, despite not showing himself “at full capacity” and prioritizing “keeping distance to work on counterattacks”, according to the sports publication .

In his next fight, also on Tuesday, the young Cuban will have a tough obstacle in the Uzbek Hasanboy Dusmatov, Olympic leader of the 49 kilograms in Rio de Janeiro 2016.

Meanwhile, Saidel Horta (57 kg) scored his third victory in the World Cup, although to do so he had to sweat the shirt in the last round against the Dominican José Luis de los Santos.

Horta, who was injured in the head due to a collision with his rival, had to come back at the close of the fight, to achieve a closed verdict in his favor by 4-3. Thanks to this, on Wednesday he will fight to secure the bronze medal against the current subtitle of the world, the Kazakh Serik Temirzhanov.

Finally, Fernando Arzola (+92 kg) added his second victory by a wide 5-0 against the Indian Narender Narender, “despite not applying everything heard in the corner”, according to Hitmedium that points out that on Wednesday he will go to climb on the podium against Danabieke Bayikewuzi.

For this Monday, the multi-champion Julio César La Cruz (92 kg) will go up to the wax-up in Cuba against the Australian Kirra Rustro. The two-time Olympic monarch seeks his sixth world crown in Tashkent.

In addition, Yosbany Veitía (54 kg), Erislandy Álvarez (60 kg), Nelson Williams (86 kg) and Alejandro Claro (48 kg) will also seek victories in their respective divisions. The continuity of the latter depends on medical evaluation after suffering an injury (cut on the left browbone) in his World Cup debut, when he defeated Armenian Baregham Harutyunyan 4-0.
