Cuba achieved 16 places for the Central American and Caribbean Games in Santo Domingo 2026 in the sports shooting qualifying tournament held in El Salvador, with gold and silver medals in rapid-fire pistol.
The Cuban team secured eight places in rifle (four women and four men) and eight in pistol (four by gender), according to Hit.
On the last day, on Tuesday, Jorge Grau won gold in the 25-meter rapid fire pistol with 20 points, followed by his compatriot Jorge Félix Álvarez, who won silver with 18 points.
The bronze went to José Campos from Guatemala (16 points), while Milton Díaz was fifth with 10 accurate shots.
Meanwhile, the Cuban men’s team also dominated the team competition, beating El Salvador and Panama, who took silver and bronze, respectively. These classifications are added to the four places obtained in skeet (three men’s and one woman’s).
Scheduled from July 24 to August 8 of next year, the Central American and Caribbean Games of Santo Domingo 2026 maintain the call for 42 sports and 56 disciplines, in which 483 gold medals will be at stake, according to Hit.
The number of competitors, according to the most updated calculations, would reach 6,215, higher than that gathered in San Salvador 2023.
