According to information provided by the CNSV, the increase in indicators is directly related to disrespect for the right of way, speeding, technical malfunctions and the ingestion of alcoholic beverages.

The participation of mopeds and motorcycles was also greater, present in 69.6% of the events and with an increase of 110 accidents, mainly due to violating the right of way, improper overtaking, speeding or failure to comply with traffic lights.

The indicators fluctuate in terms of causes, among which stand out not attending to the control of the vehicle, the running over of cyclists and loose animals or the participation of animal-drawn vehicles.

Cuban drivers frequently complain about the lack of lighting and the poor condition of the roads, according to authorities due to lack of maintenance. Added to this detail is the age of the vehicle fleet, with cars over 50 years old.

Compared to last year’s statistics, the figures for the first half of 2021 represent an increase of 30% in deaths and 25% in injuries, according to Eph.

However, it points CubaDebatethe behavior continues to be below what was achieved in the years 2017, 2018 and 2019.
