Havana/A donation of food and food sent by Belarus was delivered on Wednesday to the Institute of Hematology and Immunology of Havana, with the aim of contributing to the treatment of patients with hematological diseases, of the immune system, hypertension and cancer, among other conditions.
According to Dr. Wilfredo Roque García, director of the medical institution, this help constitutes “a noble gesture that honors fraternal and historical bonds of friendship between our peoples and governments.” He also added that for health personnel this contribution is “much more than medicines and food, they are a sample of hope, relief and a powerful message of support and solidarity.”
The donation includes medications such as cytostatics, bio -stimulants for the immune system, drugs for the treatment of leukemia, antihypertensive, vitamin, anxiolytic complexes and pills for the control of hemorrhages and nerve alterations. In addition, it contains foods such as powdered milk and canned meat, which will be distributed in 28 hospitals in Havana, mainly pediatric. Roque García added that these foods will allow to strengthen the diet of cancer patients.

The total value of the aid exceeds $ 238,000. During the ceremony, the Belarus Ambassador to Cuba, Vitaly Petrovich Borchuk, was satisfied with contributing to improving the lives of Cuban patients and supporting the work of Public Sañlud on the island. He also reaffirmed the “solid ties” between both nations and recalled the reception by Cuba of the victims of the Chernobil nuclear accident.
Last April, Belarus had already sent a cargo of more than 20 tons of humanitarian aid to attend natural disasters on the island. Relations between the two countries have gained a new impulse in recent years after Russia’s approach to Cuba.
