MIAMI, United States. – Cuba Nostalgia 2023 will be held at the Fair Expo Center in Miami on May 20 and 21, with the aim of recognizing the Cuban cultural heritage through exhibitions, souvenirs, art and music.
Outstanding artists and personalities of Cuban culture in Miami met at the Westchester Cultural Arts Center this week to announce the program of the event.
Peter Regalado, organizer of the event, told Newspaper Las Americas that “this year will be like no other”. “Cuba Nostalgia has been revitalized to continue to be the largest and most prestigious Cuban cultural event in South Florida,” he added.
He also said that it is “a Cuban experience” in which the public will enjoy recreations of Cuban monuments such as the Floridita bar, the Havana Cathedral, the El Encanto store, the Museum of Fine Arts and the Tropicana Cabaret, among others.
“We always try to keep the Cuban culture alive and to support those who are on the Island. We dream of the moment when we can be together,” Regalado said.
For his part, also in statements to Newspaper Las Americas, the comedian Boncó Quiñongo expressed his longing for the Cuba prior to 1959. “ [A] We want to return to that Cuba and it is the one we remember. That Malecón, that Prado, that shiny Tropicana”. She also announced that she will be participating in the event with a monologue in English.
Ninoska Pérez, the artist in charge of making an exclusive poster for the event dedicated to the Virgen de la Caridad, commented: “I paint the Virgin a lot, I think the Virgin unites us, what better image than that of the Virgin to remember Cuba, to bring that nostalgia for the Cuba of before”.
In Cuba Nostalgia 2023, the Cuban singers Leslie Cartaya, Lena and Malena Burke, and the Grammy winner Aymee Nuviola, Closing manager.
“This year [Cuba Nostalgia] It’s going to be bigger than ever, so we’re excited to have you join us there this weekend. At the event we try to bring our culture through food, we bring our typical dishes and we maintain the tradition in the market so that current generations can also taste the dishes that mom and grandmother made,” said one of the sponsors of the event, Pedro Mesa, from Sedanos Supermarket.
