The Route of Tobacco de Cuba will have a new hotel in the western province of Pinewood of the riverwhich will allow its guests to coexist and share the secrets of this culture, according to official media on the Island.
The installation, which belongs to the Islazul chain, should be ready to operate next September, when it is expected to be launched as part of the program for the thirteenth edition of the Tourism and Nature event (Turnat), says a report from the agency Latin Press (PL).
José Antonio Aguilera, delegate of the Tourism in Pinar del Río, explained that the new hotel, located in the municipality of San Juan y Martínez, will have eight rooms and will be associated with the Vueltabajo hotel, in the capital of the province, also focused on the theme of cuban tobacco.
The news office recalls that Pinar del Río is recognized worldwide as the land where the best leaf in the world is grown, hence the tourist route dedicated to that culture is anchored in this area.
The new facility will function as an information center for the Route and will have a bar, a specialized tobacco shop and a smoking room, according to the publication.
Corporación Habanos SA set a record for the sale of Premium cigars in 2021
The objective is that the client can participate from there in the different tobacco processes, going out to interact with the tobacco growers, explained Aguilera, who added that private efforts are added to this effort, such as that of the Habano Man Héctor Luis Prieto, who has available a room in his farm.
The interest is that the tourist comes and shares with the community, stressed the director.
As a tourist product, the Tobacco Route has been enriched since its launch through the incorporation of broader services, points out PL. According to the media, the opening of this hotel will provide new facilities to travelers who wish to get to know this culture in depth.
Guests will be able to interact with producers and be part of the processes of a crop that coincides with the high season of tourism, since tobacco generally begins its sowing in the month of November and ends its harvest at the end of April, while in May opens the opportunity for double harvests in the case of the most productive lands, says the report.
However, to obtain the quality cigars so valued internationally, the leaf must undergo hundreds of technical procedures, in which humidity and heat play essential roles. These are the only factors that intervene, since no chemicals or other types of substances are added to Cuban tobacco, the outlet concludes.
