At the end of last May, one of those boats with more than 800 people on board, capsized off the coast of the same town in Villa Claraforcing the Cuban authorities to deploy a device for their rescue at sea and subsequent location in enclave camping facilities in the vicinity of that territory.
After several days in the country, the Cuban authorities, in coordination with their counterparts in Haiti, guaranteed the return all those rescued by air to their homes.
The arrival of Haitian migrants on Cuban shores has increased in recent times due to the political and economic instability that has generated a climate of insecurity in the small Caribbean nation.
