Eighteen agreements were signed between companies of the Biocubafarma group and foreign entities to increase scientific collaboration between Cuba and other countries, in areas of biotechnology. These agreements were made within the framework of the BioHabana-2022 International Congress, which concluded this Friday.

The fact was praised by the Director of Science and Innovation of BioCubaFarma, Dr. Rolando Pérez Rodríguez, who described it as “a milestone for Cuban biotechnology, since expectations were exceeded, which means a path full of projects and commitments for the development of the industry”, indicated the newspaper Granma.

The agency Latin Press (PL) detailed these agreements: the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (CIGB) signed five contracts. Two of the agreements were with the Hasbiotech company from Turkey and its objective is the commercialization of the Cuban drug Heberprot-P, with notable results in the treatment of diabetic foot ulcers.

“Furthermore, with the same entity, it signed an agreement for the constitution of a joint venture in the western Mariel Special Development Zone for the development of innovative products,” he added. PL For the same purposes, the CIGB signed a letter of intent with the company Raydel Korea, from South Korea, and the Canadian Cypress View Land & Cattle Corporation, from Canada, “for the production of grains using biotechnological techniques.”

For its part, the National Center for Scientific Research established an international sales contract with the company Rainbow Nature Pty, from Australia, the Molecular Immunology Center strengthened ties with Russia after the signing of an agreement for the commercialization of the Cuban product Nimotuzumab, used in cancer patients, and the National Center for Biopreparations established an alliance for the international sale of the national drugs Trofin and Biomodulina-T with the Dominican Republic, he stressed Latin Press.
