Cuba maintains communication with Cubans residing in Ukraine

Cuba maintains constant communication with Cubans residing in Ukraine, the island’s Foreign Ministry said today.

“Our missions in Ukraine, Poland and Slovakia, together with officials from @CubaMINREX, maintain communication with Cubans residing in Ukraine,” confirmed this Wednesday Ernesto Soberón Guzmán, General Director of Consular Affairs and Cubans Resident Abroad (DACCRE) at MINREX. .

In his official Twitter account, he added that the exchange “with relatives and close friends who have been interested in his situation” has also been maintained.

Soberón added in another message on the social network that “during exchanges, each problem has been addressed, in search of possible solutions.”

“We ratify the commitment to provide the proper consular assistance to all our nationals,” guaranteed the Cuban diplomat.

Last week, the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that the personnel of the diplomatic mission in Kiev were well and remained in contact with the Cuban residents, to whom they provided consular assistance, recalled a Prensa Latina note.

On February 24, the Russian Federation began a special military operation at the request of the Donest and Lugansk people’s republics, which were under siege by the Ukrainian army.

On the issue of Ukraine and the conflict that is taking place these days, Cuba has “clearly expressed its position in favor of a solution that guarantees the security and sovereignty of all and that addresses legitimate humanitarian concerns.”

Yesterday, this position was reiterated before the UN by the permanent representative of the island, Ambassador Pedro Luis Pedroso, who reaffirmed that “Cuba is a country that defends International Law and is committed to the Charter of the United Nations, which always will defend peace and unambiguously oppose the use or threat of use of force against any State”.

He also expressed that Cuba “will continue to advocate for a serious, constructive and realistic diplomatic solution to the current crisis in Europe, by peaceful means, which guarantees the security and sovereignty of all, as well as regional and international peace, stability and security.” “.
