Cuba, a tourist destination with a unique nature and the best brands of rum and tobacco, awaits Kazakh tourists to offer them “a sea of impressions,” said the Minister of cuban tourism for Russia, Kazakhstan, Ukraine and Georgia, Juan Carlos Escalona.
“Cuba is better than the Maldives. It has a unique nature, crystal clear water, the best brands of rum and the famous Cuban cigars, and most importantly, a sea of impressions”, he declared during a meeting with businessmen from the Kazakh tourism sector at the Cuban Embassy in Astana.
Escalona affirmed to EFE who traveled to Kazakhstan “to promote Cuba’s tourist destination.”
“Kazakhstan and Cuba are linked by very old ties and we want to take this opportunity so that Kazakh tourists can visit our country,” he added.
“Tourists from Kazakhstan can reach Cuba through European countries, such as Germany, France, Spain. The airlines of these countries have regular flights to Cuba. They can also do it through Turkey, Istanbul, because Turkish airlines have three weekly flights”, he explained.
Which, he added, does not exclude other routes, such as Moscow, where charter flights to Varadero and Cayo Coco were recently restored.
“Before the COVID pandemic, more than 10,000 Kazakh tourists visited Cuba. Then the pandemic came and stopped everything, but we were convinced that the number would increase, ”he lamented.
Kazakhstan is one of the largest countries in Central Asia and in its northern and central regions the winter is usually long and harsh, which is why many Kazakhs travel to tropical countries where it is hot all year round.
During the meeting, the Cuban ambassador in Astana, Oscar Santana León, commented to EFE that “after the pandemic, many Kazakhs begin to travel to Cuba.”
“Travel is restored and we expect the number of tourists to increase little by little,” he said.
The Cuban diplomat, who has been in Kazakhstan for six months, affirmed that, unlike the Kazakhs, who flee from the cold to the south, he “impatiently awaits” the arrival of winter to feel “really cold”.
