(EFE) The Ministry of the Interior informed this Saturday (Minint).

This group, made up of 29 men, 2 women and a child, left Cuba illegally by sea.

According to the statement from the Cuban organization, one of these migrants is subject to an investigation for “serious criminal acts,” before becoming involved in the illegal departure from the island.

It also points out that since the beginning of 2023, 48 return operations have been carried out. This week also reported the return of ten Cuban rafters from the Cayman Islands and another 27 intercepted at sea by the United States Coast Guard (SGC), which already totals 2,008 deportees in 2023.

In the case of the US, since October 1 – which marks the beginning of the current fiscal year – US Coast Guard crews have intercepted more than 5,740 Cubans, a high figure compared to previous years.

At the beginning of 2023, the US government implemented a policy to welcome 30,000 migrants per month from Venezuela, Haiti, Cuba and Nicaragua.

In parallel, it will immediately expel undocumented immigrants from those countries who try to cross the southern border into its territory irregularly to Mexico.

Mexico, for its part, agreed to admit 30,000 migrants a month who are expelled from US territory.
