Cuba Gooding Jr. Pleads Guilty to Abuse and Harassment Charges

By Maria Jose Rojas

Actor Cuba Gooding Jr. pleaded guilty before the judge, this Wednesday, for forcefully touching a woman in a New York nightclub in 2018.

The guilty plea took three years to arrive, the product of several delays due to the coronavirus pandemic. In the meantime the 54-year-old actor’s lawyers sought to reduce the charges against him.

Cuba Gooding Jr., who so far has three formal accusations of abuse, in different nightclubs in Manhattan in 2018 and 2019, claimed to have kissed a club waitress on the lips without her consent.

Under the stipulated terms of the plea agreement, the actor will continue with behavior modification and alcohol treatment for six months and will have no new arrests. After that time, he can plead guilty to harassment again and finish his case.

Following this action, Gooding may face a sentence of time served. If you fail to meet the terms, you can face a year in jail.

In August 2020, Manhattan prosecutors mentioned that at least 30 women have come forward with accusations of unwanted touching by the actor.
