The Cuban sports authorities updated this Thursday in 416 athletes the athletes of 26 disciplines that have the classification for the next Central American and Caribbean Gamesbased in the capital of The Saviorwhich will take place from June 23 to July 8 next.
The figure was announced to the specialized press by the general director of high performance of the National Institute of Sports, Physical Education and Recreation (Inder)José Antonio Miranda, according to a note published by the sports portal Hit.

The manager offered other details related to the event and acknowledged that the number of participants is close to the forecasts of the sports organization, around 500 competitors.
Miranda stressed that the sports classification processes that take as reference the locations in the respective rankings, as in the cases of athletics and swimming.
The most recent sport to join the future Cuban delegation was racquetball with complete teams for each sex, according to the vice president of Inder, Ariel Sainz.
«On April 23, the long list of registered, that is, the numerical one, will close. We are working rapidly on this process,” Miranda acknowledged on the key dates of the process, the outlet reports.
As for the competitive purposes, he announced that there are at least two analyzes to be carried out: one in April and another closer to the start of the fair, with all the updated parameters in terms of rivals and real medal options.
However, he assured that Cuba must appear among the first three countries of the medal table and set the number necessary to occupy the first place at 124 titles.
«Colombia has grown in some disciplines, but it would have to reach close to 90 gold medals to take second place. Mexico continues its progress and we believe that it must win the Games,” said Miranda, quoted by Jit.
Regarding the second big event of the year, the Panamerican Games of Santiago 2023, the manager confirmed that to date the island has 126 qualifiers in 17 sports, although key classification options remain.
The delegation to the Chilean capital should reach between 250 and 280 athletes, when the deadline for classification in various sports closes, including athletics, boxing and wrestling.
Santiago de Chile will host the Pan American Games from October 20 to November 5, shortly before the usual Parapan American event, scheduled for November 17 to 26.
For this last event, the Cuban presence is confirmed in the para-archery, para-table tennis, para-taekwondo and para-cycling competitions, with a total of 11 representatives. The para-athletes go through the process of obtaining records, which should increase this preliminary figure, the publication points out.
