Adriano Rodríguez Bolaños (Guanabacoa, Havana 1924-2015) one of the most powerful and versatile voices in Cuba. With an artistic career spanning more than 70 years, he ventured into musical genres such as trova, lyrical art, and Afro-Cuban songs.

In an interview conducted by the author in 1995, Adriano revealed moments of his long seventy-year career with direct influences from his family of musicians, the sound of the neighborhood where he was born full of santeros, rumberos, abakuá, and the music studies at the Conservatory municipal.

Under the baton of directors such as Gonzalo Roig, González Mantici, pianists such as Odilio Urfé, Frank Emilio and Alberto Zayas’s Black Rhapsody, he joined casts of Musical Theater, Cabaret and Television with presentations in Mexico, Carnegie Hall in New York and Europe, he also ventured into at the cinema.

In the 1990s, together with the Edesio Alejandro Machine Band, he renewed his repertoire with more contemporary sounds integrated into his interpretive style. Adriano passed away at the age of 91 with a trail of successes that confirm that he is one of the great voices of Cuban culture.
