Cuba describes the theft of another oil tanker as “maritime terrorism”

The Foreign Minister of Cuba, Bruno Rodríguez, described the seizure of a second oil tanker by US forces in international waters of the Caribbean Sea as a “new act of piracy and maritime terrorism.”

“It reiterates the conduct of total disrespect and violation of International Law, Maritime Law and freedom of navigation and trade,” the Cuban minister wrote in his X account. At the same time, he alerted the international community that Washington’s “new provocation” against Caracas “seeks to further escalate the aggression against Venezuelan territory and seize its natural resources.”

This Tuesday, US President Donald Trump ordered “the total and complete blockade” of sanctioned oil tankers entering and leaving Venezuela. In addition, he announced that the Venezuelan Government has been “designated as a terrorist organization” by Washington.

Trump accused Caracas, without any basis, of using “oil from stolen fields to finance itself and terrorism related to drugs, human trafficking, murders and kidnappings.”

For his part, Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro reiterated that, despite prolonged US aggression, his country will defeat “the oligarchy and imperialism under any circumstances.” «Venezuela has been denouncing, confronting and defeating a campaign of multidimensional aggression for 25 weeks, ranging from psychological terrorism to piracy by privateers who raided the oil, and which has multiple forms of action. Venezuela, what has it shown? […] “That Venezuela is a strong country, that has true power,” he asserted.
