The Cuban Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bruno Rodríguez, called on Tuesday that the debates at the COP27 Climate Summit must “lead to substantial decisions” to avoid a climate catastrophe.
“COP27 debates and negotiations must lead to substantial decisions to avoid the climate catastrophe we are headed for,” the Cuban foreign minister said on Twitter.

The event takes place from last Sunday until the 18th in the Egyptian city of Sharm el Sheikh with an agenda that includes financing for less developed countries to fight climate change.
In this regard, Rodríguez pointed out: “the contribution of developed countries cannot be postponed in accordance with the principle of common, but differentiated responsibilities“.

In her speech, the minister said that the developed countries are responsible for climate change and must assume their commitments with the less developed.
“Cuba will support the efforts of developing countries to ensure the financial mechanisms required to deal with the losses and damages caused by climate change and better focus the debates on the definition of a new financial goal, based on the needs of the underdeveloped”, he said, quoted by local media.
