Cuba calls for international mobilization to repudiate US aggression against Venezuela

Maduro's warning that caused Lula da Silva "fear"

Cuba warned this Thursday that “what it considers to be US pretexts” for an eventual military aggression against Venezuela “cannot be accepted legally or morally” and called for “international mobilization” to prevent it.

The Cuban Foreign Ministrythrough a statement, reiterated in a new statement on this issue that “the dangers to the peace, security and stability of Our America are real and imminent.”

Washington announced at the end of last August that it would use “all its power” to stop the “flow of drugs into its country,” which included sending ships and soldiers to the southern Caribbean Sea, in international waters, near Venezuela.

To date, the US has confirmed the sinking of at least five vessels that it alleges contained drugs and were manned by drug traffickers.

Cuba described the destruction of these boats as “illegal” and warned that, after their destruction, “the threat of the use of force against Venezuela increases with the announcements of a new phase of escalation that would include military actions against land targets.”

«It cannot be accepted legally or morally in any way that these pretexts are the basis for perpetrating military aggression against a sovereign State. The dangers for the peace, security and stability of Our America are real and imminent,” the Cuban Government assured in this new statement about Venezuela.

Cuba affirmed, as the South American country has done, that the “thwarted plan to attack the United States Embassy with explosives in Caracas” was “organized by a sector of the Venezuelan extreme right” seeking “a pretext for the US military forces on the high seas to act in response to the alleged terrorist attack against its diplomatic headquarters.”

He accused the US Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, and “anti-Cuban Florida” congressmen of promoting the war. According to the Cuban Foreign Ministry, they “irresponsibly threaten to unleash the military power of the United States against a sovereign nation of Our America, as if it were a neighborhood police raid.”

“Cuba makes a new call to mobilize the international community to stop a warlike action against Venezuela,” according to the statement.

Cuba has already linked this “escalation” on several occasions with Washington’s alleged interest in “taking over the oil and resources” of Venezuela.

Havana, in addition to its political harmony with Caracas, receives from Venezuela a significant part of the crude oil it needs to keep its battered electrical system active.

Washington maintains eight military ships with missiles and a nuclear-powered submarine deployed in the Caribbean, near Venezuelan waters, and ordered the sending of ten F-35 fighter planes to an air base in Puerto Rico, insisting on the thesis that drug cartels are run from Venezuela.
