Cuba and Mexico strengthen economic ties with a business forum in Havana

The business forum Cuba-Mexico 2022 was inaugurated this Thursday at the Hotel Nacional, in Havana, with the participation of more than 100 businessmen from the Central American country together with a group of local entities, according to official media on the island.

Through his Twitter account, Rodrigo Malmierca Díaz, head of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment (Mincex), described the presence of Mexican businessmen and the exchanges planned until Friday as having great potential to expand relations economicals between both nations, according to a office of the Cuban News Agency (ACN).

The meeting will be focused on the agri-food, biotechnological and pharmaceutical areas, tourism, renewable energies and cultural industries. Likewise, it is conceived as a space in which businessmen from both nations can exchange on topics such as investments and promotion of Cuban exportable funds.

The ACN points out that the Cuba-Mexico Business Forum is also sponsored by the Center for the Promotion of Foreign Trade and the Foreign investment (ProCuba), the Cuban Chamber of Commerce and the Embassy of Mexico in Havana.

Mexico has been a historic trading partner for the Island, important for its proximity, agro-industrial development, technological advances in machinery, progress in knowledge and for its trade policies, ACN recalls.

Both nations have an Economic Complementation Agreement in force, through which tariff preferences were granted to the import of various goods, and, according to the source, they have now emphasized the importance of generating a better environment for investment and the reciprocal exchange of goods. and services.
