The governments of Mexico and Cuba agreed to expand to a third province, Villa Clara, the program sowing life, implemented in 2022 through the Mexican Agency for International Development Cooperation (AMEXCID).
The agreement was signed by the Executive Director of the AMEXCID, Alejandra del Moral, and by the Cuban Minister of Foreign Trade, Oscar Pérez-Oliva, during Del Moral’s visit to the island, local media detailed.
According to official figures, the program, which until now is implemented in the western provinces of Mayabeque and Artemisa, involves 5,000 peasants who receive donations from the Mexican agency, as seeds and teams for the field, in addition to technical support.
The Executive Director of the AMEXCID, which depends on the Mexican Foreign Ministry, met at the Palace of the Revolution with the Cuban President, Miguel Díaz-Canel.
In his X account, the president thanked Del Moral to the “valuable contributions made by Mexico to the Cuban people, with cooperation projects whose results she could see.”
The Mexican official reiterated the “commitment to continue expanding cooperation in agriculture, health and renewable energies” with Havana. He also assured, according to the Cuban presidency, which sowing lives will be extended “soon” to other regions of the island.
Del Moral concluded Friday his three -day visit to Cuba after having met with senior officials of the Ministries of Public Health and Education.
