Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel and his pair of Bosnia and HerzegovinaZeljka Cvijanovic, sought formulas on Tuesday to strengthen bilateral cooperation, especially in the health area.
“This was a long-awaited visit,” Díaz-Canel told Cvijanovic during the meeting, held at the Palace of the Revolution in Havana, according to reported the Cuban Presidency on Twitter.

During the official talks, Díaz-Canel confirmed to his counterpart “the will to expand political, economic, commercial and cooperation relations between both countries.”
For his part, Cvijanovic said that his delegation visits the island “as friends” and said that “ample opportunities” are opening up to strengthen bilateral relations.
Previously, the president of Bosnia and Herzegovina was interested in starting cooperation with Cuba in the health sector, by having an exchange with the Minister of Public Health of the island country, José Ángel Portal Miranda.
Specifically, Cvijanovic said that his government would benefit from the acquisition and development of Cuban vaccines and biotechnology products, as well as the training of professionals, cooperation in the area of research and between the medical schools of both nations.
The island’s official media have highlighted that bilateral relations develop in “a cordial climate of mutual respect, typical of historical ties” since the time of the former Yugoslavia, and the purpose of increasing economic-commercial exchange and cooperation in various sectors.
As part of this visit, Cuba and Bosnia will sign this Wednesday a memorandum of understanding to strengthen the mechanism of Inter-Foreign Ministry Political Consultations, according to accurate Latin Press (PL).
Cvijanović arrived in Cuba on Monday night, to complete this official visit, the first made by a president of that Balkan country, aim the Cuban News Agency (ACN).
