The Cuban health authorities warned this Tuesday about the epidemiological situation due to the coronavirus transmissionwhich until July 9 had grown by 83.8% compared to June.
According to a report of the Cuban News Agency (ACN) the average number of COVID-19 cases per day had increased to the figure of 41.9 against the 22.8 recorded in the previous month. The information came out in the meeting held every week by Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel with experts at the Palace of the Revolution.
Vaccines alone do not stop the spread of the virus. Actions such as hand washing and the use of masks in closed spaces or where physical distancing is impossible, are as effective today as they were in early 2020.

Havana, Mayabeque, Matanzas and Isla de la Juventud present a “slight increase in positive cases”, although the capital is at the top of the list, accumulating 115 infections in the last seven days.
The Minister of Public Health (MINSAP), José Angel Portal Miranda, reported that until the cut in July, 207 cases remained active, a figure that is 66 higher than the previous week. Despite this, he highlighted, according to the source, that for eight consecutive weeks no one dies due to COVID-19 in the country.
The Cuban president warned about the need to take measures to reinforce the perception of risk of a disease, because “we have to anticipate forecasts.”
The forecasts, meanwhile, given by the dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Computing of the University of Havana, Raúl Guinovart, refer that several European countries and the American continent are experiencing a new wave of infections, despite the levels of booster vaccination.
Coronavirus in Cuba: week opens with 31 infections. From Havana the highest numbers
“The outbreaks have not substantially increased the number of deaths in those regions, but they undoubtedly alert us,” Guinovart considered.
Regarding vaccination, the head of the MINSAP referred that Cuba has 97.7% of its population that can be vaccinated with three doses and 84% with booster doses, which totally marks the difference with other countries and with itself in July 2021.
