Cuba adds 89 active cases of coronavirus

MIAMI, United States. — The Cuban Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP) reported this Tuesday that the island accumulates 89 active cases of coronavirus.

At the close of this January 2, 133 patients were admitted to hospitals on the island, 44 of them suspected and 89 confirmed active, all with stable clinical evolution.

The report indicates that in the last day there were 10 cases of COVID-19 (five female and five male): seven were contacts of confirmed cases and three had a source of infection abroad.

Of the total number of infected patients, four belong to the group under 20 years of age (pediatric age), two are adults between 20 and 39 years of age, another is an adult between 40 and 59 years of age, and three are over 60 years of age.

The cases of the day were reported in Matanzas (5), Havana (2), Pinar del Río (1), Artemisa (1) and in the special municipality of Isla de la Juventud (1).

On the day there were 26 medical discharges, so there have been 1,103,370 since the start of the pandemic.

At the moment, no confirmed serious or critical patients are reported in intensive care in the country.

Since March 2020, Cuba has registered 1,112,048 patients diagnosed with coronavirus, with 8,530 deaths and a fatality rate of 0.77%.
