SLP, Mexico.- The Thermoelectric Central (CTE) Antonio Guiterasof Matanzas, left the system several hours this Monday after an automatic shot that occurred at 10:00 am., As notified in his social networks the official journalist José Miguel Solís.
In his Facebook note, the reporter said that the fact caused an increase in the electrical deficit during the average demand schedule.
Román Pérez Castañeda, technical deputy director of the planthe explained that the shot occurred during maintenance and regulation of a valve: “As is natural, the automatic protection system that prevents damage acted.”
Subsequently, after spending a few hours, the thermoelectric plant again synchronized with the National Electrical System (SEN), generating a power of 200 MW.
“We hope to stay a few more hours in that power, that is, 200 MW megawatts, so that we stabilize parameters to continue increasing it,” said Pérez Castañeda.
On January 19, the first breakdown of 2025 occurred at the Central Antonio Guiteras thermoelectricwhich intensified the energy crisis in the country, increasing the deficit and electrical blackouts.
A technological failure in the boiler caused its exit. The official press indicated that brigades of the National Maintenance Company to Electric Centers (EMCE) and the installation itself would assume the repair of the unforeseen breakdown in the thermal machine.
For this Monday, the Electric Union (UNE) of Cuba advertisement that the blackouts will simultaneously cover 43% of the national territory at the peak time (late-night).
UNE indicated that electrical service interruptions are due to the fuel deficit and maintenance faults and work in the units of operational terrestrial thermoelectric plants.
The state company specified that they are out of service, due to breakdowns, Unit 2 of the Thermoelectric Central (CTE) Felton, and, by maintenance, several units of the Santa Cruz CTE, Cienfuegos and Renté.
Likewise, there will be an affectation of 400 megawatts (MW) for “thermal limitations” and 479 per fuel deficit.
Specifically, for this Monday the state company calculates a maximum electricity generation of 1,909 MW and a demand of 3,250 MW. The total affectation will reach 1,411 MW.
